EARTHQUAKE IN KORDESTAN

On November 14, 2017, following a 7.3-magnitude earthquake in the western Kermanshah province in Iran, the town of Sarpol-e Zahab was most impacted with 95% of buildings destroyed, leaving hundreds of casualties and tens of thousands homeless. FACE Foundation responded with the purchase and delivery of much needed aid relief to tens of villages, within 100 square Kilometres of the affected areas. In January 2018 phase one of the relief aid consisted of tens of tons flour which is the most essential daily nutrient to make bread for the victims and villages. This was purchased from Gharmsar and delivered to a storage location near the affected areas. Our relief team based at Sarpol-e Zahab following the delivery of 250 sacks of flours (40 Kilos each) immediately started the distribution efforts between the neediest villagers. The following images show the delivery efforts by our relief aid team in delivery to villages situated tens of kilometres from each other.

The relief aid continued as phase 2 in the second week of March 2018 and phase 3 in the third week of April. Part of this relief was distributed between villagers as raw material and the rest baked using a mobile baking machinery and distributed to those with no baking/cooking facilities.
